Pierre Le Bistrot

When deciding where to go for dinner with work to celebrate the end of our series, ‘Pierre Le Bistrot’ seemed like a good option. A relatively new restaurant serving, (as you might have guessed from the title) French cuisine. The restaurant is in The Brewery Quarter, minutes away from Cardiff/Caroline Street’s ‘Chippy Lane!” I’d heard good things about it from some of my colleagues and thought the menu looked pretty good so that’s where I decided to book.

The restaurant inside has lovely wooden tables and chairs and a low lighting creating a relaxing atmosphere. There was also plenty of various wines to choose from, we opted for the Rose – which was fruity and light.

While waiting for our starters we were given baskets of warm, fresh bread to nibble on as an ‘Amuse Gueule’ which was a nice little treat. For my starter I had’ Parfait au foie de volaille,’ Chicken liver parfait with sourdough toast and red onion confiture, which was delicious. My friends had the ‘Assiette Méditerranéenne’ to share which cost £10.50 between 2 and looked incredible and was definitely worth the money. My other colleague had  “Salmon rillette of fresh and oak-smoked
Scottish salmon” for her starter which also looked and according to her tasted delicious.

For my main I had Fillet of sea bass baked with plum tomatoes,
shaved garlic, olive oil, flat leaf parsley with spicy chorizo which was really tasty. Our main courses were accompanied by potato dauphinoise and fresh broccoli, Chantenay carrots and red cabbage.

As a big group we had to pre-order which worked out really well as all our food came out at the same time and was piping hot and really tasty. I am looking forward to my next visit to the restaurant as I was very impressed with the service, food, wine and atmosphere.  MERCI ‘Pierre Le Bistrot’ 🙂

It’s time to …blog!

So it appears that I haven’t blogged in far too long and now the content of my blog seems a little outdated. Initially it was set up with the intention of letting people know what they could do for fun and laughs in Cardiff as part of a university project, but now I feel like I may just blog about whatever I feel like blogging about. So here goes, one of my favourite things to do in Cardiff and generally in life is to eat. There are so many wonderful restaurants in Cardiff and not just in the town centre but also in Canton/Pontcanna.  Since moving to Canton a year ago I have taken it upon myself to try as many different ones as I can.

One of these is the ‘Hangfire Smokehouse Southern Style BBQ’ restaurant in the Lansdowne pub in Canton.  I’ve only been once but the food is so delicious that I am visiting again tonight to share the wonderful experience with a friend who is visiting from London. It’s a pop up restaurant on Thursday and Friday evenings from 5 until 9 (or until they sell out!) but you have to be quick as it sells out pretty quickly (because it tastes sooooo good!!!) The Lansdowne is a great pub with a great atmosphere and that’s why it makes for a perfect place to eat/drink/socialise.
